Fashion and Textile Design Department Fall Fashion Show

Fashion and Textile Design students’ collections will be presented during The Fashion Show on 27th December 2018, at IUE Balçova Campus, D Block, at 19:00…
Fashion design students of the second, third and fourth class collections will take place in the fashion show with different themes and inspiration. Firstly, all collections made by The 4th year fashion design students, are inspired by famous works of the Bauhaus school in Weimar, Germany which were founded in 1919. In the collection, the combination of the “Form Follows Function” motto and GESTALT principles in art and various design fields, thus the history of the Bauhaus movement that has emerged to the present day was reflected.
On the other hand, The Costume Design students collections have been developed around Christopher Isherwood`s Novel “Good-bye to Berlin” on which the famous Musical “Cabaret” is based. Also, in ”Memento Fashion: Emotive Design” project, conceptual designs were developed by the 3rd year fashion design students taking inspiration from a memento which evoke their personal memories from their childhood or early youth.
The 2nd year students combined the visual aesthetic of 1960s Op-art with inspiration drawn from the field of entomology, the study of insects, and the shirts in the collection have evolved from detailed individual research and inquiry into one specific insect by each student.
This collection celebrates the timeless elegance of simplicity and comfort as an homage to Gabrielle Chanel´s “Ford” dress from 1926, and Historical dress patterns of the 1920s reshaped reminiscent of classic silhouettes.
We cordially, invite you to our Fall Semester 2018/2019 Fashion Show…
