IUE graduate, fashion designer Duygu Karasu went global at the 13th If Wedding Fashion Izmir Fair. Karasu, who attracted great attention with her designs, is signing collaboration agreements with participants from different parts of the world.
Duygu Karasu, who graduated from Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) in 2012, attended the 13th If Wedding Fashion Izmir Fair with their brand “Hermanas”, which she co-established with her sibling Derya Kıymaz, graduate of IUE Department of Economics, Faculty of Business. Karasu, who displayed her collection of evening gowns, and bridals she designed, at the fair, said, “Quality, comfort, and design are very important for me. I create my designs with special fabrics from America, Italy, and Germany. The education I received at the University helped me create my designs. Thanks to that, I plan to work with major companies in Italy, Russia, and Azerbaijan. I met with many participants at the fair for prospective collaborations. My goal is to expand my brand with my unique designs both in Turkey and across Europe.” Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, stated that they made sure the students worked closely with the industry throughout their studies. The Professor said, “Getting in touch with representatives from the industry as they are still studying, brings in great advantages to our students when they are setting up their own businesses. With self-confidence and self-assurance, they have the necessary attributions and experience to create their own brands. Witnessing their success is a great source of happiness for us.”
