FACULTY OF FINE ARTS AND DESIGN
Department of Textile and Fashion Design
Bauhaus is 100 years!
100 years have passed since the foundation of Bauhaus. The Walter Gropius School of Art in Weimar developed itself as the pioneering movement of the modern age, combining architecture, design, craft, fine arts and performing arts. The Goethe Institute and its partners in İzmir want to show how Bauhaus has had an impact on our aesthetic perception and design to this day, and how this style remains contemporary.
In this direction, the events started with a photo exhibition on Bauhaus architecture. As the last of the activities, fourth-year students of our department will exhibit their collections with the performance choreographed by Başak Gürsoy, and with the music of Modest Mussorgsky played by the honorary guest Ibrahim Yazıcı.
In this context, collaborating with the Izmir Goethe Institute, our fourth and third-year students were inspired by the Bauhaus school while preparing their collections and print designs. The students who took costume design course prepared similar costumes of one of the Bauhaus School’s artists, Oskar Schlemmer's Triadic Ballet.
We will be happy to see you at the event that we will perform within the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus School...
