Artworks of 11 academics are being exhibited in Urla
The exhibition titled, 'Crafted', including 30 artworks prepared by 11 academics working at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Textile and Fashion Design, was opened at Mimas Art House in Barbaros Village, Urla. Special works prepared by using different techniques such as illustration, digital printing and laser cutting can be visited until 7 June. The exhibition, which is prepared with the theme of ‘from traditional to digital’ and the main material of which is fabric, provides its visitors with the opportunity to think creatively. Inspired by the power of craft, the most beautiful examples of fiber art are presented to the audience in the exhibition.
CONTRIBUTION TO IZMIR'S ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT
Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design stated that they produced projects that contribute to the artistic development of Izmir. Prof. Dr. Bulgun, who also prepared a work for the exhibition using three-dimensional printer and smart textile applications with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arzu Vuruşkan and Lecturer Elif Tekcan, said, “IUE Department of Textile and Fashion Design has an international academic staff working on illustration, costume design, fashion design and textile arts. Our faculty members carry out academic and artistic studies together. With the exhibition called 'Crafted', we have accomplished another event that contributes to the artistic development of Izmir. I would like to congratulate all academics who contributed to the creation of such a valuable exhibition.”
NEW PROJECTS COMING
Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Textile and Fashion Design, said that as a department, they have been meeting with art lovers from Izmir for 20 years through various projects. Stating that they carry out studies in many fields from research to design, from industrial mold making to textile technologies, Prof. Dr. Adanır said, “Our faculty members prepared their works, which can be evaluated within the scope of fashion design, ecological printing and fiber art, as a result of meticulous and long-term efforts. As a department, we are happy to realize such a qualified and special project. We will continue to produce different artistic projects from now on.”
